Attention Deficit - learn to live in focus
The principal characteristics of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. These symptoms appear early in a child's life. Because many normal children may have these symptoms, but at a low level, or the symptoms may be caused by another disorder, it is important that the child receive a thorough examination and appropriate diagnosis by a well-qualified professional. Additionally, a significant number of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will continue to show symptoms of attention deficit disorder as adults.

Is It Really Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?

Not everyone who is overly hyperactive, inattentive, or impulsive has attention deficit disorder. Since most people sometimes blurt out things they didn't mean to say, or jump from one task to another, or become disorganized and forgetful, how can specialists tell if the problem is attention deficit disorder?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that becomes apparent in some children in the preschool and early school years. It is hard for these children to control their behavior and/or pay attention.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder affects approximately 3-5% of all children. Much less well known is the probability that, of children who have ADHD, many will still have it as adults. Recent studies estimate that between 30-70% of children with ADHD continue to exhibit symptoms in the adult years.
